Architectural Requests
There will likely be quite a few documents and resources you’ll need to gather before submitting your architectural request to the board. We have tried to source and outline those below. We will continue to add to this list as we come across those that are missing.
Survey
When do I need a copy of my property survey for an architectural request?
Any architectural request that includes changes to the land on which your home resides will require a survey along with markings showing the intended changes.
When requesting a permit, you may be required to submit a property survey as part of that request.
How do I obtain a copy of my property survey?
You may have one as part of your closing paperwork.

Permits
When do I need to request a permit?
Both Union County and the Town of Indian Trail have different permit requirements. The type of project and / or the work being performed will determine if you need a permit, and which authority you need to request it from.
How do I check Union County for permit requirements, and submit my permit request?

Make a selection under Category and Type and choose Next Step
Continue following the instructions until your request is complete.
How do I check the Town of Indian Trail for permit requirements, and submit my permit request?

Make a selection under Category and Type and choose Next Step
Continue following the instructions until your request is complete.
Styles, Materials and Design
During the application process you’ll be asked to provide information about the color, materials, style and design. We will need photos of what you intend to use in order to make a final determination.
Neighbor Approval
Specifically for fence installs, if you intend to connect your new fence to your neighbor’s fence, you’ll need to get written permission from them. Please download the form below, have it filled out, then upload it (photo or scan) to the architectural request.
Submit Architectural Request
Once you have gathered all of the required documentation and forms, please us the link below to fill out and submit your Architectural Request. Please allow up to 30 days for a final decision. If you are missing any paperwork, the board will follow up via email to request it.
